Unfortunately, as you can read above, two-factor authentication (2FA) didn’t help in this particular attack. There’s not an awful lot left in this paragraph if you drain out the jargon, but the key phrases seem to be “compromised endpoint” (in plain English, this probably means: malware-infected computer), and “persistent access” (meaning: the crooks could get back in later on at their leisure). While the method used for the initial endpoint compromise is inconclusive, the threat actor utilized their persistent access to impersonate the developer once the developer had successfully authenticated using multi-factor authentication. He threat actor gained access to the Development environment using a developer’s compromised endpoint. N unauthorized party gained access to portions of the LastPass development environment through a single compromised developer account.Ī follow-up announcement about a month later was similarly inconclusive: Therefore, if I were to list the most compatible to least compatible, I'd say that the most compatible are browsers that support Autofill, such as Firefox and DuckDuckGo, then browsers that support Autofill Compatibility Mode, such as Chrome and Brave, and lastly, browsers that do not support Autofill, such as Samsung Internet and Edge.Popular password management company LastPass has been under the pump this year, following a network intrusion back in August 2022.ĭetails of how the attackers first got in are still scarce, with LastPass’s first official comment cautiously stating that: Our Accessibility service was designed to fill wherever Autofill was not supported, so as Autofill continues to improve, Accessibility becomes less relevant. On the other hand, Samsung Internet does not support Autofill nor Autofill Compatibility Mode, so Samsung Internet relies solely on our Accessibility service to fill. This means Chrome relies on Autofill Compatibility Mode and our Accessibility service to fill. Since this feature is specific to Autofill, you will only get these results in Autofill supported browsers, such as Firefox.Īlternatively, Chrome does not support Autofill, but Autofill Compatibility Mode. The reason you are seeing your Logins displayed above your keyboard in Firefox is because Android 11 and Gboard recently added support to display Autofill results in the keyboard suggestion strip. This is why we encourage you to turn on both Autofill and Accessibility within the 1Password app. There are browsers that support Autofill or Autofill Compatibility Mode, and browsers that do not support either rely fully on our Accessibility service to fill. Let me start off with explaining that different browsers may support different Autofill modes. I'd love to help you understand the Autofill differences in your browsers! Thank you for reaching out to us here at 1Password. And browsers like Samsung Internet are not supported at all and rely on the phone's accessibility features. While browsers like Chrome and Brave are support but limited. They mentioned that browsers like Firefox and Duckduckgo fully support 1Password's autofill. But they do support legacy browsers with a "Autofill Compatibility Mode" that utilizes accessibility functions. From my take away, "Autofill" from within the app is the current mode as designed.
